Position description: Prep Cooks are responsible for preparing and cooking orders per recipe guidelines, preparing batters, slicing meats and vegetables. You will be in charge of restocking and maintaining workstations to assure plenty of product is always available, and for cleaning of all workstations at the end of the day, including sweeping and mopping of floors.
Additional Description: In a busy, upscale restaurant, prep the cold food station each day, under the direction of the chef. Menu changes each night. Duties include chopping, slicing, finishing preparation of sauces, cutting homemade cakes and deserts, and other food preparation duties with attention to quality and cleanliness. During fast-paced but upscale dinner service, this position works with the chefs to prepare and plate the evening's salads, appetizers, small plates, and desserts, while helping the chef's execute the hot-side foods by preparing their plates. Excellent English skills are a must, ability to communicated clearly and effectively with servers, kitchen staff, dishwashers a must. Attention to cleanliness and safe food preparation standards in a must. Previous kitchen experience is helpful but not required. This position is ideal for someone who is a hard worker and good listener, interested in culinary arts, gourmet food preparation, and/or learning from talented chefs. Typical hours are 3pm-11pm Tuesday-Saturday with occasional work on Sunday or Monday, or before 3pm. This position also fills in for dishwasher at some shifts, when necessary.The hours and nights for this position rarely change making it possible for students to work at another job during the day, provided there are never any conflicts with this primary job.
