Position description: Deli Workers are responsible for preparing hot and cold food and beverages, such as sandwiches, salads, grilled items, coffee, tea, etc. Deli workers will also be expected to assist with setup and cleanup at the beginning and/or end of the day, which includes cleaning and proper storage of food items.
In the area: This supermarket is a family owned and operated business. Owned and operated by the Conner Family, the Supermarket is now in its 3rd generation of management. Customer service is a priority. The supermarket is located one half mile from the beach. Buxton is a small village that is very busy during the summer. Located on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, on Hatteras Island, this supermarket is the only store to visit for all your shopping needs. Whether browsing our fresh meats, produce, organics, dairy, or deli selections, or seeking that perfect souvenir, you will find it here. The Village of Buxton is located just off Cape Hatteras, and in fact, used to be called simply "The Cape." It is home to the famous Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, America's tallest brick lighthouse at 208-feet. The National Park Service opens the lighthouse for climbing every spring, and closes it during the winter, though the grounds and museum are accessible year round. Buxton is home to a nationally popular surf fishing spot known as Cape Point. It is a large sweeping sand bar that stretches farther out into the Atlantic that any other point on the Outer Banks, getting you close to the fish. There is camping available at Buxton as well, and many people enjoy the elementally exposed experience of sleeping under the stars with the gentle pounding of the surf. Buxton has all kinds of accommodations from luxurious inns to affordable motels, and there is plenty to choose from when deciding where to eat.Your employer is located in the outer banks of North Carolina. This is an extremely popular summer destination. You can get involved in the local community in many ways as there are a variety of events held throughout the area over the summer months. Beginning with the Hatteras storytelling festival in May. In June, the beach comes alive with many visitors from around the world.
Provided by Host: We are 2 miles from the tallest lighthouse in the US. We are also located in a National Seashore with easy access to the ocean. Students could visit neighboring Hatteras Village (blue marlin capital of the world) to watch the charter boats unload the days catch from the Gulf Stream. Students also enjoy beach bonfires with locals and visitors. Buxton is home to a maritime forest and the Buxton Woods Reserve. Also in our county are Jockeys Ridge State Park, The Wright Brother's Monument to Flight & Fort Raleigh National Historic Site. Ocracoke Island is an hour ferry ride away and students can visit the wild ponies & the Ocracoke lighthouse. All these activities can be done while maintaining social distancing. During quarantine, we will provide books about the Outer Banks so that students can learn about the history and culture of the area. The student house also has a large yard where they can spend time outside without contact with others.
