Position description: Baristas will be responsible for making coffee and/or tea beverages to order. Baristas will be expected to learn to properly use and clean all related machinery (espresso machines, milk steamers, etc.), take customer orders and handle cash sales at a register in a fast-paced environment.
Additional Description: This is a closing baristas position. The baristas in our health food store must be able to understand complex espresso orders, learn specialty drinks, prepare teas and cocoas, and also make smoothies and serve soup. You are required to tidy up customer areas where food or beverages may be consumed, restock cups/lids/sleeves, wrap bakery products, and stock other grocery products, and other duties as necessary in support of the team and our business. This position includes cleaning all equipment at closing, cleaning all blenders, mugs, utensils, glassware, cups and cookware used during your shift. Some food preparation may be necessary. All baristas perform these same duties as required. There are also opportunities to cook favorite recipes if there is time.
In the area: Seward is home to Alaska's most diverse ecosystems. From the beauty of our marine environment of Resurrection Bay and the Gulf of Alaska, Sea Lions, Sea Otters, Shore and Sea Birds, Humpback and Orca Whales, all species of Salmon can be seen from the beach in addition to the bay cruise. The coastal plain is home to bear, moose, coyote and more, plus all migratory birds. The gorgeous mountains of our fjord home host the alpine ecosystem and some of the most amazing hikes (climbs) and views of the surrounding mountains and the bay. American culture may be a misnomer. Alaskan culture in the summer is an amazing experience of the midnight sun and extraordinary scenery and access to the massive outdoor playground. Nightlife and special events with local bands keeps things busy. Staff routinely have late night campfires and fun activities that all our teammates are invited to. We are a very quaint coastal town with a distinct walkable downtown and harbor districts, an interesting history museum at the public library, the world famous Mount Marathon race and festival on July 4th, and the Alaska Sea Life Center.
